service management warning light

Featured Replies

This warning light came on, and then immediately went in to limp mode. after a diagnostics test skoda have informed me I need a new computer part costing  1900 pound, and if that's not bad enough they say it shows a problem in the clutch area that my cost another thousand pound, they will know for sure once the computer has been replaced. My car is a 2010 1.2 yeti dsg with 37000 miles on the clock, naturally I'm outraged by this so I would like to hear from anyone who's had a similar problem, I'd like to establish whether this is a rare case before tackling skoda about the cost.

Welcome to the Forum.

?

Did Skoda UK tell you that, or was it a Skoda Franchised Dealership and an Employee there?

Has your Yeti required the DSG into Skoda for the Service Campaign on it,

to have the Synthetic Oil changed to Mineral Oil and a Software Update after the Mechatronic Control Unit has been checked.

Skoda might have to be replacing your ECU for free, because they know of the possible issues.

EDIT,

If the MCU needs replaced, or the Clutch Packs due to the faulty MCU, then Skoda UK might well

be paying the 'Full Costs' of having that done.

Call Skoda UK Customer Services. Raise a case with them.

*Then have everything you are told confirmed in Writing and get the name and position in the Organisation

of the person telling you what you need and what you need to pay for.*

Check if your vehicle requires Service Campaign Actions, at their expense.

This is how the 'Service Campaign' was done in New Zealand.

In the EU/UK it started May 2014, and Some but not all DQ200 DSG might get the 'Field Actions' carried

out.   VW / Skoda UK have still many owners unaware of this because there was no Recall,

they only contacted some Registered Keepers that they had contact details for.

Sounds like you're just another victim of the 'dry' 7'DSG transmission which I seem to recall was 'fixed' in later versions.

I have a reasonable level of comfort with my 'wet' 6 but yours has a problematic history from what I've read.

Argue that it's a known weakness and good luck.

Welcome and sorry to hear of your problems.

We need more information, I'm afraid, as "a new computer" sounds highly unlikely. What exactly have the garage said has failed? Which computer, as there are several in the car?

Yes the car was recalled in July 2014 for that reason as confirmed by skoda.

Does that mean the Service Campaign was done then,

or was the Letter just sent out.?

There should be a Sticker in the Boot showing that the work was done.

Spare Tyre Well beside the 'Build Sticker'.

shows.

'34F7'

?

What parts do they say you need,

is it the ECU,  and what in the Gearbox, the MCU or is it Clutch Packs.

The service campaign was carried out, the car is sitting in the skoda yard at present, so I will check the boot for this sticker. This is the email I have just received from skoda regarding their diagnosis.

Customer’s complaint – Engine management light coming on, also noticed gear change not to be a smooth as it should be,

Technician Diagnosis – We carried out a guided fault finding test (diagnostic test) to confirm why the EML is coming on, we can confirm the fault stored in the memory was fault code P175 which indicates clutch 1 opens unintentionally, after carrying out test plans, we have identified that the problem is caused by the Mechatronics unit which is a component that controls the workings of the internal parts inside the DSG gear box, We have also made you aware of a possible clutch fault which we cannot be 100% certain until the Mechatronic unit has been  installed and all the settings of the gearbox have been set up correctly.

Raise the Case with Skoda UK Customer Services, get a Case Handler / CS Manager, and it is probably down the Skoda UK

to deal with.

The Imported and Sold the Faulty Vehicles with VW Built DQ200 DSG's that needed Service Campaign Work.

Before that some DSG had Clutch Pack Failures.

They Extended Warranties in other World Regions,

now Skoda / VW might need to look again at DSG they had to Update, and see if they were too late in doing it.

After this, VW started a Service Campaign, and then Skoda did in May 2014.

Fundamental Design & Manufacturing or Quality Control and not the correct Fluids Used, and Software.
