Fabia Vrs With ASZ Engine

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anybody know if my car should have a 90amp or a 120amp alternator fitted please, checking with motor factors etc they are listing 120 amp if the car has air con but i currently have a 90amp fitted but it came with the car so unsure if this was fitted in error by the previous owner.

My car is a 53 plate.

Dave.

If you have a good relationship with your local Skoda dealer parts department you could ask them to get you the full 'car data' pdf for your VIN.  This would include the original alternator specification as one of the PR codes.

If you don't have such a relationship, you could get the same info for a few quid via erWin.

Do you put any particular stress on the charging system? (e.g. high-power audio system). If not, I'm sure either will be fine.

Well a 120 amp is available off the shelf and is a lot cheaper.

Easy decision then.

If you have the handbook or the build sticker is in the spare wheel well, look for the 8G build code. Full code listing here:- http://vag-codes.info/vag-option-codes - the pdf listing covers the Mk.1 Fabia.
