Heater blower

Featured Replies

I have a 06 Skoda octavia L&K with cimatronic and the heater blower is working intermittantly. Can I remove the fan motor without removing the glove box, I've managed to undo it by turning anticlockwise but space seems very limited to pull blower out so don't want to force anything unless I know it will come out. A new unit is £215 but noticed brushes are sold for Valeo fans but can they be fitted to this unit or is it sealed for life?

Fan unit is Valeo: F997167J     1K2820015G

No need to remove glovebox. I don't know about the brushes. 2nd hand unit should be cheap enough.

So once released by turning anticlockwise I will be able to pull down and out?

Yes. Un plug the wiring connector and slowly manourvre it out.

Job done thanks for the advice

Just a thought, IIRC the fan unit for a non-climatronic is much cheaper isn't it?

I wonder if the motor itself, (once removed from the plastic mount) is the same?

Obviously some heavy gauge wires and resistor pack to join/swap so not straightforward, but there is money to be saved!

I think the bare Valeo motor for a manual heater Octavia (assuming it was the same) used to be available from ECP for around £100.

I would be interested to know if you get the brushes changed and also how many miles your old one's done.
