2.5 v6 tdi down on power 04 plate

Featured Replies

my 04 2.5 v6 is a wee bit down on power.

seems to take it longer to get the power down,

i tried doing 0-60 to see a result and could barely manage 16 seconds (auto box).

the car has been serviced 2000 miles ago, so i changed the fuel filter just in case i got bad diesel, also checked air filter and found no issue.

there is no smoke or any other sign of an issue.

my thoughts are towards a fuel issue, perhaps a solenoid,

can anyone point me towards any other issue that might cause this

Best would be to scan it via VCDS and follow up on the error codes you get. It's a shot in the dark without it, as you could have any of these: faulty injector, pump, turbo system, etc.

If I were you I would start with a diagnose and see from there.

Or, see a good mechanic, which would start most likely with the same thing...

was thinking along these lines,

no warning lights or codes on the dash

Doesn't happen always to trigger alarm on the BC. Example: N75 solenoid controlling the turbo vacuum line. Had it faulty, no error on the BC, terrible slow acceleration. So...

air flow meter showed up as the fault.

replaced, and back to the car we once knew

Glad to hear you worked it out.

As always, VCDS is your best buddy in such situations...

another problem tonight.

car is running like it cant get fuel, just as if it was running out of diesel. engine management light came on with EMISSIONS WORKSHOP warning,

i will have difficulty getting it diagnosed over the holidays, so i would appreciate any advice or experiences

Sorry to hear that, but unfortunately the EML can signal a wide range of issues, starting from pump failure to shut-off valve, EGR and so on...

I feel for you, but I don't know any other pin point solution without a diagnose...

a friend has told me to check the fuel tank and make sure there is no blockage,

he has had this happen a few times on passats, a gauze on the fuel pump.

would the skoda be similar??

If you refer to the Booster pump in the tank, AFAIK some of the models have it, some don't (mine. BDG engine, doesn't). You could check for wiring to tank by lifting the back seat. But, even so, you won't know for sure if this is your culprit...
