Tow Bar & Associated Additions

Featured Replies

Hi

Have had a search through and cannot see any information about the Tow Bar.

In the brochure it says "Integrated tow bar The tow bar can be easily released from the boot and folded away after use. Includes preparation of the following vehicle systems for optimised operation whilst towing: alternator, battery, fan and cooling system."

Has anyone ordered this or have experience as to what actually is done too the alternator, battery, fan etc. Is it computer jiggery or do Skoda fit higher rated components etc?  I cannot seem to find much information on line.

Thanks

Paul

I have ordered mine with a tow bar. Not much info either but did not want a third party cutting and drilling a car of this value...

Same reason for me.

Spoke with Skoda UK today, and the lady checked with the technical department.  Apparently it is all computer controlled stuff that changes, all physical parts are the same with or without the towbar.

Not sure I'd believe that to be honest.

How can a software setting alter the alternator, battery, fan and cooling system ?

Ours is being delivered next week, with towbar. I can have a look and see if I can see what rating of battery, alternator etc is fitted, if it's of any interest ?

It certainly is, if we could then compare to a non-tow bar fitted vehicle that would be great and allow an informed choice.

Thanks

Got mine...simple to use. Garage warned that the connector is wired for Europe and needs a connector/converter.

All trailers and caravans from 2008 are the 'euro 13 pin' style anyway. It should come with a converter to allow you to use a 7 pin older style socket.

My brother in laws scout 4x4 (65plate) did....

Steve.

Intelligent charging profile, altered fan switching on/off or power profile (fan may be under PWM control), electronic control of cooling valves at a guess.....but only a partly educated one. Other manufacturers do the same sort of thing. I would have expected a fan change though, for a more powerful version.
