Camshaft change DIY

Featured Replies

Thought I'd start a new thread as it would appear leading on from my low oil pressure issue (which appears to have been solved), I checked my camshaft and have the revision 'a' cam fitted. I replaced the camshaft follower which had developed a hole in the middle of it, so this camshaft needs to go.

Revision 'b' is the one that has been mentioned to me but I've come across threads which mention there is also a revision 'h' version.

For those that have done, or even looked into changing the camshaft can you please let me know a list of parts you gathered to complete the task?

At present on my list are the camshaft itself, and a new cam follower.

Car has 101k on the clock, worth changing the timing chain and tensioner?

It's a 2006 mk2 pre fl octavia vrs.

Id replace the timing belt etc & water pump at the same time as you will need to remove the timing belt to remove the camshaft,id inspect the timing chain & tensioner that links the 2 cams together & then decide if it needs replacing.
