Can anyone help-when dog in car we cannot lock it without the alarm triggering?

Featured Replies

Hi, had the Greenline Roomster (2012 19,000 miles) for a week now and pleased with it but a couple of problems - one being when the dog is in the boot area.

We took the dog out to the shops and locked the car with central locking remote - alarm went off shortly afterwards.

Unlocked car, locked with door key (turned left) - alarm went off again shortly afterwards (I did this because we had to use this procedure to lock a Nissan X-trail which suffered the same problem with the dog inside).

So, as we had to go shopping - had to leave the dog inside with the drivers door unlocked - bad move really but she is a big dog!!!!!

We cannot do this again, does anyone know how to lock the car with the alarm switched off - I hope this is possible!!!

Many thanks, Andy

Is there a button at the bottom of the B pillar on the driver's side?

As above there should be a button on the drivers side pillar.

Press that before locking the car and it disables the volumetric sensors inside the car.

On my Skoda Superb I you pushed the lock button once (deadlock + alarm) and then once more (locked - not deadlocked and no alarm). I think it is the same on the Superb II. I always do this when leaving the car on a ferry to stop alarm going off during the journey (which can cause other problems eg flat battery, lock sync)

Both these cars also had a button on the drivers door pillar to disable interior sensors - before locking push and it turns amber - er see above /\ /\ /\ /\

Many thanks to you both, today was very stressful and this puts our mind at ease (yes there is a button on the pillar), we will use this next time!

Cheers

Andy

I think two presses on the remote just disable the deadlocks but not the alarm.

I'll double check but I'm sure it stops my alarm as well. It did on my MK I Superb but not sure about my MK II now

OK I've double checked and the double lock (disable safelock) does NOT disable the alarm on my Superb II

The button inside the car does

What about buying a stuffed dog? You can keep it in the boot and it won't move e at all. Save on food and veterinary costs also  :D

I was not 100% correct above on comment 2 and I've triple checked:-

On my 2014 Superb II I dropped the windows to test the alarm:-

1) If you lock by pushing the lock button once and wait over 30 secs - as you approach the car the alarm goes off

2) If you lock by pushing the lock button twice (disabling safelock)  and wait over 30 secs - as you approach the car and stick arms inside the car - the alarm remains silent

If you then open the door from the inside (remember not deadlocked) the alarm then sounds

3) If you push the alarm button on the B pillar and push the lock button twice (disabling safelock) and wait over 30 secs - as you approach the car and stick arms inside the car - the alarm remains silent

If you then open the door from the inside the alarm then sounds

Steps 2) & 3) both "appear" to disable the alarm interior protection but still protect the doors etc..

Apologies to the residents of Beverley for this test  and no stuffed dogs were harmed as part of this :D

I guess that would make sense actually.

That way say if someone was to be sat in the car but you wanted to lock them in you could press the button twice, the alarm would not be triggered by their movement and they could still get out if they needed to (deadlocks disabled).

Then if you still want the deadlocks active but the alarm off (in the case of a dog to prevent them pulling the handle or pressing the unlock button) you press the B pillar button.

When parking on the ferry I always use the button that way the deadlocks are still active but the alarm won't go off.

The red illuminated button on the door panelling (card) above the door pocket disables the alarm on my model
