Are reversing cameras now standard on the VRS?

Sorry I should have stated that it's Irish spec I'm asking about.

Thanks billy, has that been the case long?

I don’t know exactly how long its been the case , Definitely since the MY16 cars but I think it was standard before that.

Yep, on MY16 cars. Although it was automatically added on the Configurator but now has been make a no-cost option. Worth asking the question to be sure. It's handy for edging up against walls.

As we've seen from a couple of questions about sat nav, if there's any doubt over whether it should come fitted or not, get the dealer to list it as an item on the order form. It could save a lot of hassle later.

Wish my car had the camera. Sensors are ok but would be better to see what you're crashing into.

At risk of starting ww3 why are the Irish so special? ;) wish it was standard on all My16 cars

My order has "Opitical Parking Assistant" with Code KA1. Is that the camera?

I seem to remember that new cars in Ireland are taxed quite highly relative to the UK so to compensate, manufacturers tend to bump the specs up with more standard kit.

Usually ours tend to be lower specced as they tax the extras too, but for some reason the MK2 VRS was better specced (at least initially) over here with all of them having the arm rest, cruise, climate control, rear electrics.

With the current one we don't get lane assist, gemeni alloys or nav as standard. We do get cruise though and more recently smartlink and the camera on the VRS. I reckon they can get away with those more easily than nav for example when getting the tax calculated.

The tax adds about 20%+ to the price of most new cars here. Some family hatches don't even get air con here in standard form!

The funny thing it only seems to happen on Skoda's, well the VRS model anyway.

All other brands mostly have a better UK spec that Irish spec.

It only became standard for MY16, cars before that got sensors only.

Having tried both I think I prefer the non camera version. Old version showed very simply which of the 4 quarters the obstacle was.....I think there's too much info on camera and not highlighting exactly where the obstacle is.
