Factory Gunk on Car

Featured Replies

Well gave the car its second clean yesterday but it's still covered in all that horrible gunk that the factory puts on to protect it....

Car feels rough all over. It's even on the windows !!

Plan was to give it a claying and apply a good quality wax but just not had a decent day :-(

Anyone recommend a decent glass cleaner. The stuff I'm currently using isn't making much of an impact ...

Clay the glass as well.

Never thought of that  ! Does it work well ? Have you taken delivery of your 220 yet ?

Gives a great result. I follow on with a wipe over with methylated spirit.

My car is due to be ready for pick up on 20th November. Getting excited now !!

I also clay the glass, wipe down with IPA (not the Beer!) then use rainx on them.

Take it back to the dealership and tell them you are not happy with the way it was cleaned prior to delivery. I had what my detailing friend called "fallout" on my car (like tiny little rust spots all over it) from it standing too long prior to being bought. They took the car off me and sorted it and then reapplied the superguard.

Rather not let it anywhere near the dealer cleaning team .... Their were a couple of rubber scuff marks that were not present when I took the pics of the car prior to pdi.

Looks like they bashed it with the the lance of a pressure washer.... Even scratched it a bit on the rear bumper....

Only spotted at home.... It polished off and the slight scratching will polish out when I have a go at it ....

Great buying experience but whoever did the cleaning obviously took no pride in what they did....

Bits of protective plastic still stuck in the switches. Fingerprints all over inside. Mats that were purchased and should have been fitted just left in the boot.

Salesman was obviously a bit embarrassed.... The mats were even stapled together. He helped me fit them ...

Would I buy from the dealer again.... Yes because the salesman was great...

But I would tell them to do absolutely nothing to the car apart from making it safe to drive home.

Under no circumstances would I let their Valeting guys get their hands on it again....

Can i direct you to a site i have used and ordered off. Polished bliss. A company in scotland, they have a whole section on detailing a new car. If you send them an email with your problems they will reply with how to fix it and what products to use on your car. Superb customer service. Just spent £100 with them. Got two products to clear rust specs and all the other organic and inorganic compounds stuck on there.

Got a three stage wax system as well which is ideal for metallic cars with a flake in them like silver. They are reasonable prices for good products.

I have told my dealer that apart from the PDI I dont want the car touched.
