October sales Figures

Featured Replies

I'm Confused, If Skoda sales figures are down by an estimated 3% in October why oh why are so many people waiting for cars to be built. Is the sales figures down because of the Emissions issues (which now look like they are going to effect the petrol 1.4 TSi act range, not sure if the superb euro 6 engine is effected or not yet) or is it because they just can t build the cars quickly enough to service the people's orders. seems wrong to me sales are down but it seems like orders (for the superb at least) are up, I know sales could be down on other models but still the demand for the superb seems really high.

The moral of the story is "where my car, Build it now please not in January"

Which market are the sales down on? is that just UK, Europe or world wide ?

Guess it could be sales in UK are up but rest of EU down ?  Plus.. I guess our build times also depend on the LHD V RHD production, are these batched up or does the plant build LHD & RHD at the same time on demand ?

I got told mine is due to be delivered late December...via the north pole.

Having ordered it early October which should be in there sales figures I have a funny feeling it will be mid Jan before it finds its way to me.

Quoted from the BBC last week I think it is only UK sales not sure about Europe, but they are trying to say it because of the emissions scandal I don't see it myself.

From a build time point of view I'm not sure there is any rhyme nor reason to the planning I ordered in September and i won't be built until January others have ordered in October and will be taking delivery in December. I think they are doing production runs of certain models before other models. I'm sure there is a plan but its hard to see sometimes.

Woody, I have ordered SE 2 litre with metallic paint and 18 inch alloys but have added nothing else, so I was expecting a faster turn round as it's pretty much standard.Whether that ends up being the case I doubt it.

It's this report from the BBC. Looks like an attempt to keep the "scandal" story running. Vauxhall and Ford sales dropped too, with Vauxhall taking the biggest hit, so hardly evidence it's because of the VAG emissions fiasco.

An article last week in a national newspaper stated VW sales in the US, where it all started, have risen since the scandal.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with the American litigious court system and people wanting to ensure they grab their slice of a possible "compensation" pie!!!

August the month before it broke, was for many dealers, once of the best in recent times. Those builds will be clogging up the line as the RHD builds are less than LHD.

The overall consensus is VAG took a body blow, but others 'you and I, went hang on, if one did didn't they all... maybe they did. I'll think twice about anything for a bit till we find out more. QED the overall slump.

Nearly everyone's sales figures were down as sales had increased every month in the previous forty ish months, so it was well overdue a fall. Seat appear to have suffered the most from what I hear, 20 plus% in a lot of the country.

There are a few reader surveys on the web at the moment asking whether you would buy a VAG vehicle.

Taken as given that such surveys are only an indication and not scientifically valid I think it is still  interesting that in all that I have seen at least 2/3 rds of respondents say that they would buy again. In one or two the figure is above 75%.

I agree with you Sagalout, I really want to get the car I ordered and if its unaffected by the emissions scandal I will be absolutely made up when I get it.

The question is would you continue to buy a car that isn't what was initially stated?

That's the dilemma I and several other people on this site are facing at the moment, I'm not making my mind up until I know what is going to happen or even if it is effected.
