Timing Chain sound at cold start - 1.2 TSI 110

Featured Replies

That's pretty annoying as the dealers told me it was chain. I must admit I never checked but I don't think I would have to. Hopefully the plan they advised will allow me to trade in for another new car in about 2 years time.

Some sales staff don't know their arse from their elbow or don't care. I asked about cam belts change intervals when I bought my mk2 Octy and was told by the salesman it was a chain, I just nodded knowing full well he was talking ****e.

change interval appears to be at 160,000km with no specific time scope mentioned.

Hi James I have the mk3 1.2 petrol tsi any idea at what mileage the belt has to be changed. On my old Fabia mk1 1.9 diesel estate it was 60k and the advice was to change the water pump at the same time is that the same advice for the new car Joe

Wow - that's quite an interval - 160,000 km ( 99,000 miles !) - quite a change from the 60,000 miles on my old 1.9TDi - like Joe mentioned.

Oh there will be plenty time to change that interval if there are early failures.(it has often been that way across any cars marques sold in Europe)

Indeed, for my 2001 1.4 16v Octavia the manual says 110,00 miles for cam belt - this was revised back to 40,000 miles
