Potention new Fabia VRS owner - second hand

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

I am from Romania and because I can not decide on a matter, I need your opinion.

I am a huge fan of VRS and because I sold my old 07 Astra GTC, I was looking for something more sporty.

I have a neighbour who has a 2011 Fabia VRS in green for 2 years and among others, when I started to look for another car I saw his VRS on the local market.

I was quite enthusiastic on this until I started to read more about the car and I discovered that this engines has some serious problems.

The car is from 2011, it has 105.000 km or 65.000 miles. The price is around 9.000 EUR or 6.370 pounds. Chassis series is TMBEP65J3B3065044

He said that he doesn't have the oil consumption problem but he is aware of this. He is the second owner of the car.

I have not read many things about DSG problems or the chain distribution. I have heard that this engines have seriour problems also with the distribution.

So, any opinion on this from you is very useful for me.

I really love this car but I don't want to buy o pain in my life :)) It has quite a lot of miles in my opinion.

Thank you very much and sorry for my English :)

Potential new Fabia VRS owner - second hand instead of "Potention"  :D

Unless it's the newer model CTHE engine you've probably a 1 in 5 chance of purchasing one that uses oil excessively.

I am not aware whether these engines have timing chain problems - I thought that was the 1.2 TSi engine.

I think is the CAVE engine, the car is from 2011.

1 in 5...hmm...I didn't know these statistical data :)

Let's say that I trust my neighbour, and I believe him that he doesn't have the excessive oil consumption issue. But can this problem appear from now on??

not likley... if its a good engine, it usually stays a good engine ;) general consensus on here is that you either get a good one or a bad one :)

Fun fact...this the only Fabia II VRS that I have ever seen in my life, in reality of course  :)))

In Romania, these types of cars are very rare, and I am living in Bucharest!

I was looking at autotrader the other day at second hand models and I'd say to aim for around £5500-£6000 for a 2011 model with 65000 miles. Prices vary, but that's the sort of idea I got on the cars value at the moment. It may be worth more though if there aren't many in Romania.. Or it could be worth less because of that lol.

Even if it does use some oil, if it's got to 65000miles without a new engine it's probably fine :) they're good fun and great little cars in my opinion.
