Service Intervals

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd share my experiances regarding Service Intervals.

I have a Superb (2013) and my wife has a Fabia (2014) and on both vehicles the Vehicle Data Sticker states that the service interval is QI6 which equates to a variable service interval where the vehicle tells you when a service is due based on the way the car is used.  It also has different oil than that for Fixed Service Intervals - I presume it has to last longer.  In both cases it has turned out that the vehicles have been set to Fixed Service Intervals and had to be changed back to QI6.  Presumably originally changed by the supplying garage to get a service each year instead of when it's needed.  I presume that  when it leaves the factory the oil and Service Interval as stated is correct.

I would be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this.

If it has so far been serviced on a regular basis (1 year or 10-12000 miles and your not doing mega miles) I would say you've been lucky to avoid the barmy VAG service that otherwise stores up trouble later

If I owned my Yeti and it wasn't a Motability vehicle, I would use the fixed service option as I did when I had my Tiguan. I spend many years in the motor trade and firmly believe an annual service is the best option and agree with Cheshire Cat about storing up trouble for later if you are on the variable service interval.

Regarding the different oils used on the two service intervals..... If your car is a diesel, they have to use the "better" oil.
