Replacement Car battery

Featured Replies

How much im i looking at to get a new battery 12v 70 ah ???

I think I saw one in a dealer today for £90-ish.

But give the charger time; you'll probably be OK. A bit of deep discharge often does batteries good (well it does in submarines, anyway).

The genuine one is -

000 915 105 AF

72AH/380A

£90.22

I'm sure you'd get one cheaper, have you contacted the dealer regarding a warranty replacement?

Yes as long as it is physically the same size.

A serviceable battery shouldn't fail just because you have allowed it to discharge fully on one occasion like this.

:iagree:

Deep discharge = bad

Normal discharge/charge cycle = not that bad, as that's what it's designed for.

Marine batteries can cope a little better as they tend to be designed to withstand a deep discharge without permanent damage.

Flattening a battery trying to start a car ........ should`nt mean

you cant recover it by charging ..... unless one of the cells has died ....

but if a flat battery is left flat for a while ...then it will sulphate and

die permantly :thumbdwn:

What Pete described is exactly what happened to me when I plonked a new battery on the Rover - the original one had been flat for a month, but the new one was driven around for a while to charge it post sticking it on. Problem was that I left it again for a few weeks without charging it fully. Add a bit of frost for a few nights, and it was duffed again. That one I may just be able to recover if i'm fast enough :)
