Lost me ping!

Featured Replies

My '01 octavia used to give an audible warning, a 'ping' (same as low fuel) whenever outside temp went below 5 degrees, and the display went to outside temperature. This bit still works but there is no 'ping' noise. Strange, as the pinger still works whenever fuel or screenwash become low

Also interior light stays on for 4-5 minutes after switching off engine if car is not locked - goes out immediatly if car is locked. If i unlock car without starting engine, light comes on and fades out after about 25 seconds as it should.

I am sure both these faults did not exist before car went into dealer for service but cannot prove otherwise and dealer not interested now.

Any ideas anyone?

You could name and shame the dealer for a start!

None of the 10 VRS Octavias I have driven have ever pinged when the temp goes below 5 degrees.

And that's a lot of vRS's :D

I'll see your 10 and raise you 1, cos mine has never pinged either

Mine pings when it hits 4 degrees, but if you get in the car and its already at or below 4 then it doesnt ping, it has to actually drop from 5 to 4.

Right, i'm gonna put my thermals on and go sit in the car till it drops below 5 just to see!!!!.........what was the saying "i may be sometime..." Capt oakes, artic explorer!!

My Octy vRS does not ping when the temp drops below 5deg, or at least I have not heard it yet over the heavy rock music I often play on the stereo or Blueflame exhaust note  . It does however bring up the outside temp on the display.

My 03 vRS pings if the temp is below 4 deg and interestingly the coolent/temp gauge flashes as well. However if I immediately turn off the ignition and restart then neither happens.
