Tried some new products today.

Featured Replies

After my recent spending spree I have some new products to try so over the weekend I had to give them a whirl so here's my thoughts.

First up was a glass sealant made by Hellshine called The ghost rider.

So the first thing I did was to clean the windscreen. I used some Ceriglass to give it a quick going over to remove any residue or contaminants, rinsed and then a going over with some glass cleaner. The instruction state that you should clean the glass, apply the sealant by spraying directly on the windscreen and wipe the excess onto the surface with a microfiber and wait 10 mins for it to haze. Once 10 mins is up you then buff off the residue with a clean microfiber.

So that's what I did and I must say it was a doddle to apply and a little goes a long way I've hardly touched the bottle so it should last me a little while. It's too early to comment on durability and I wasn't able to see a demonstration of it's hydrophobic ability as it rain nearly all day Saturday until I was ready to leave. Typical but I did wash the car today and it was evident that the windscreen has been treated due to the way the water was reacting when applied over the car.

Next up is Autobrite Purple Velvet Shampoo.

The first thing you notice is the sublime smell that comes from the bottle, it smells to me of bubblegum I really like it. I used 2 capfuls in my bucket which produced a very sudsy solution which causes the wash mitt to glide effortlessly over the paintwork with the bubbles clinging to paintwork for quite a while.

Overall it performed really well and I'm not sure if it has drying aids in it but drying the car off was very easy, normally I go over the whole car with the hosepipe which drags most of the water off the car but with this I didn't have too.

Next up is Autobrite Tyre Sheen Rubber Dressing.

I normally use Megs Endurance Tyre Gel but this is water based so it's a bit different to apply as you have to spray it on the tyre then rub it in but it was actually easier to use with less mess than the gel and was quicker too. Results seem similar but with less gloss than the megs, durability is yet to be seen.

After I'd done the tyres I though I'd give the scuttle tray a going over with it as it's quite faded and would be a good test on plastics.

I applied it over about 3/4 of the scuttle panel but the difference is quite obvious, application was a doodle so now it's just down to the durability.

So overall so far I'm very happy and as long as the durability holds up I would happily recommend. Got a few more product to try the only problem with having a clean car is justifying using new products.

Nice little write-up - 2 products I have on the shelves as well.

Glad you are happy with them.

Certainly sounds like you prepared the glass well - let us know on durability of course.
