Activate front parking sensors automatically?

Featured Replies

I have a Superb L&K with front and rear parking sensors. While they are all activated when I go into reverse gear I would like the front ones to be activated at a lower speed, i.e. when parking.

Is there any coding out to do this???

Newer cars have this by default, so it should be possible to do

How new is new?

Ours is 2014.

The sensors need a trigger, that being the reverse light signal. There's no automatic signal that turns the sensors at the front on when slowing down, they should have a switch on the dash to disable them once the reverse signal has triggered them though or they'll remain on until reverse is disengaged or you reach a certain speed.

The pool's I've recently borrowed from the dealers came on automatically below 15mph on the front.

No doubt the park assist now uses the vehicle speed signal to trigger them then.

Did it have a button on the dash to turn them on or off?

Yes, but it automatically reactivates the next time either reverse is engaged or you reach below 15mph again

The trigger for the front ones I want the low speed to be in analogy to the reverse gear for the rear.

Which car are you talking about where the sensors activate automatically?

Each to their own, but that would drive me nuts on the M25/A3 crawling along in nose-2-tail traffic. I'd spend as much more time switching them "off" than I would "on"! I just push the button to "on" to activate the front and rear sensors when I'm manovering in a car park or getting it into a gap on the drive. Is their a specific scenario you have that the automation of these will help you with?
