Climatronic Illumination does not work

Featured Replies

Illumination in blue and red color around temperature dials does not work. Does anyone know what could be the problem? Is it a fuse, some crazy loose wiring connection on the back of the unit, or it is a permanent lamp failure? If it is a lamp, is it replaceable or it is a led light bulb that can not be replaced? The unit itself works fine, and there is no any dtc errors. All other lights work too, just those that show temperature color do not.

I think the blue/red only illuminate if you turn the temperature control to either minimum or maximum.

You can check by turning them to 16 or 26 and if you turn it one more click they should illuminate the blue/red.

That's not the case, I know for sure, because those blue and red lights were always on whenever the side lights and dipped beams were on. What really confuses me is that illumination around both dials doesn't work, and that makes me think it's some kind of electrical problem, rather than just some light bulb being burnt out.

Below is what mine looks like and always has during my ownership. There isn't any illumination around the dials and red/blue only light when on max/min temperature settings. I've had a look round google and can't see any images showing any other illumination.

Your original image has disappeared but if I remember correctly you also had dual zone climate control as shown above.

If you are sure you're missing lighting, then it's probably the power circuit which drives the LED's that's failed. You'll need to take the unit to a good electronics shop who will be able to take it apart and repair/replace any components needed.

Than you too are missing those lights. :D   Now, seriously, those lights were there, from day one, and I got the car brand new from the dealership. Blue illumination (obviously for cold) went halfway around dials and than the red one went the rest of the way indicating heat. It looked really nice at night and that's pretty much the main reason I would like to have it back.

If you're sure that's the case then all I can suggest is taking it to a electronics repair shop and see what they can do...

I have a look on google and found an image of the dual zone climate PCB, as expected there are no bulbs or fuses that are user replaceable. I also can't see any LED's that would provide illumination around the dials. On each side there are 11 LED's in a circle which are blue, red and 9 for each temperature around each dial. Inside each circle there is a single LED with 3 smaller LED's above it for the heated seats.

If you do get it working or find an image of one that does I'd be interested to see it :)

Edit:

Image now attached...

My pre facelift has a blue and a red light permanently showing when the car lights are on but my face lift is like the picture by Langers2k.
