One folder not synchronising in Gmail........help!

Featured Replies

So here is a question for the clever pooter bods out there. I use Gmail as my email jobbie and recently noticed that when I send a message, it does not appear in my 'sent' box. It does appear in 'All Mail' however. This is repeated on the 3 different email accounts I have and it makes no difference if I use Android or Windows 7 (Live Mail) to send. I have checked that I have 'make a copy of sent items in your sent folder' ticked and have re-synchronised my folders. This is the case on all email accounts that I use.

If I send an email direct from the web, it will work though. It has only started in the last week or so and no settings have been altered. Any ideas?

If you're using Live Mail with IMAP, have you made sure you can see the special "[Google Mail]/Sent Items" folder? Their IMAP implementation is a bit wonky compared to reference implementations...shouldn't affect the actual Gmail app on Android though so I'm not sure that's the issue

Yep I can see everything. I re-sync my folders to be sure. It's worked fine form donkey's years, nothing has been touched by me and now it has stopped working. Weird :(

Small update, tried deleting and restoring the account... no difference :(

I had no end of bother with gmail. I still have a gmail email address but I now use Airmail2, runs very well with my Mac

I've used Gmail for many, many years and had absolutely no trouble. Then this little hiccough appeared. Hopefully it will right itself, but it has been a week now, so perhaps not :(

Are you using gmail on Mac OS ?

Gmail on both Windows (live mail) and Android

I have noticed similar behaviour but not exact. Sending from Gmail via browser, my Outlook 2003 stores the sent mail in the "inbox". It's not a sudden thing, however, AFAICT it has always done it. Stuff I send out from Outlook does appear in my Gmail "sent items" though.

When you send stuff, do you do it as a Gmail user or a Googlemail user? There are account settings about the two.

I send with a Googlemail address and from either an Android or Windows Live Mail prog. I have noticed that the 'sent' mail does exist in the 'All Mail' folder. Today I forwarded an email from my 'Sent' folder to see if it cleared some sort of stuck setting and believe it or not, it seems to have worked. Fingers crossed I have a reliable system again. Weird???
