Are Skodas really this advanced.........

Featured Replies

My Octy vrs seems to know when we have arrived home.... let me explain.

On back shift, I drive the same 10 mile route home from work with the headlights on dip beam, and as I come to a stop on my drive the headlights fade out.

I've found that the headlights remain faded out if the hand brake is applied, but come back on to full dip beam if the foot brake is released without applying the hand brake.

At first I thought it was a fault or I was seeing things, but as time has gone by I now think/assume the car's electronics have somehow learnt the journey.

My mates say its not possible for any car to do this, let alone a Skoda :finger:

Anyone else noticed this or similar, or have I really lost it :)

id love to see the answer for this one!

mmmmmmmmmmmm.................I Wonder:rofl:

Try parking in next doors drive and see if it knows!!:)

I'm going to test it myself being an Octy vrs driver.

My cars ECU has adapted so much to my work journey, its started to drive itself there

I know the lights fade a little bit when turning tight corners as the PAS soaks up some juice. Not heard of anything else making them fade, well apart from a banging sound system, but thats not a fade - thats more of a flashing in time with the bass. :D

careful - if you park on next doors drive with lights that go off by themselves .... you could drive into a tree you havn't got:confused:

i know the head lights dim when you turn the engine off. does it do it at traffic lights?

Not sure about that. Mine has a turbo boost function and it talks to me. It's handy when you want to jump over the car in front but it's all a bit gimmicky IMO.

I think when you're at idle they fade just a little as the alternator isn't making as much electricity as it does when the engine is at 1500rpm. There is a maximum it will generate and that is generated from just above idle (although I'd love to see how bright an Octy vRS' lights would go at max revs if that wasn't the case :P :P ).

However I'm no mechanic so that might be a load of drivel.

Do the headlights fade every time the handbrake is applied, or solely on your drive? If it's solely on your drive, then the car is very clever and has learnt your journey ;) If not, it sounds like you might have a problem

Chris

Mine tries to get in the garage on its own if I leave the handbrake off !!

A bit more info for you........hopefully I wont make things any worse ;)

My 10 mile journey home includes 8 roundabouts and 7 junctoins and 2 miles of 30mph speed limit.

The headlights only fade at the end of the of the journey, and never appear to fade if I stop at any of the roundabouts or junctions, even if the hand brake is applied.

It does not have any effect if I drive steady or fast, as long as I drive the exact same route then the lights will fade at the end.

If I alter the route ever so slightly or stop for fuel etc etc then the lights wont fade.

The car is a 53 plate, and standard vrs (apart from private plate) and done 11K.

I'm on back shift this week and will be using the vrs Thursday and Friday...... might try parking on next doors drive, if nothing else, it will wind the old **** up
