How is Nav data updated on MY16 Amundsen

Featured Replies

I understand that Nav data on a MY16 Amundsen is pre loaded and not on a SD card.

So how do you update the data if you do not have a special encrypted SD card

PS My new Octavia arrives Friday 20th

I can only speak from my experience. My MY16 OCTAVIA SEL with Amundsen MIB2 came with SD card for Nav Maps. I expect you will find the same tomorrow!

Updates are provided by Download from the Skoda update portal and new maps were made available beginning of this month. Your car build might have missed this update so would discuss this with your dealer.

Nope... It's still on the SD card which is in the glovebox in that strange looking box with the blanked out CD tray.

Does the update just do maps or can it make changes to the unit software ie patches etc to improve Bluetooth compatibility?

They release Bluetooth updates separately, on the same download portal.

Firmware updates are dealer only (supposedly) - MIB1 firmwares are floating around though :)

May I ask on this.... is this service available for the life of the car? E.g. if I am buying used?

3 years from date of manufacture I think

3 years from date of manufacture I think

But how do they enforce that when you can download the maps directly without going through the portal?

If you look at the metainfo2 file in the MIB1 folder it has a list of blocked hardware variants

Seeing as you can't edit this file without recalculating multiple checksums as well .................

I may be wrong, but it looks like they have built this in to the upgrade process from day 1

How often they change HW versions? Not every six months I supose?
