ISOFIX child seat mountings - where are they?

Featured Replies

Sounds like a dumb question, but the handbook isn't too helpful!

I can find the top tether brackets easily enough on the rear seat backs, but apart from that all I can find is what looks like 2 pairs of little cloth tabs with the word ISOFIX on them, just sewn into the seat fabric.

Am I missing something? Should I just pull up the tabs and all will be revealed? Any pics anyone?

Many thanks - Richard

U shaped metal brackets between the back and Base of the seats. You should see them easily if you lift the seat Base.

There are slits in the rear bench seat, by the Isofix labels, stick your fingers in and you will feel the anchor points.

Failing that, just strap the car seat to a set of roof bars. It will impact on aerodynamics, but it will be quieter in the cabin :)

Our car seats came with little plastic things to slot in to the seat to make it easier to locate the metal U-shaped isofix piece of metal... Much easier to find once we put those in place!

Really? Any chance of a pic please? While children will never enter the inside of my car, I'm curious to see these plastic guide widgets.

Thanks all, found them now.

The seat bases don't lift up on mine, I guess 'cos its the basic version.

However I can now see that the little sewn-in tabs are thoughtfully placed a few inches away from the mounting! - A bit of prodding has revealed slits in the upholstery, the mountings are accessible through these.

Seat base doesn't lift up on any of the Rapids - hence the slits in the seat base to access the Isofix points. It's a legacy of the Rapid originally being developed as a saloon (that was left as-is when it was converted into a hatch, most annoying).

Do the sits fold flat "ish" then?

Nope. The backs of the rear seats fold down onto the rear bench cushion and rests at about a 35 - 40 degree angle.
