Rear washer problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just looking for a little advice. My rear window wash depositor has stopped spraying. Just dribbles now, but there's plenty of screen wash in the tank!

Any ideas or is this a quick trip to the dealer?

Thanks!

As the car inevitably still must be covered by guarantee, the later.

I assume it is Winter Wash that is in the bottle,

and the temperature in your area is above freezing and the pipe to the rear is not still frozen

if it was at freezing.

Have you topped it up since getting the car,

some Windscreen Wash does not mix well with other types and you get blocked pipes.

(Some VW / Skoda / Seat / Audi Service desk staff sometimes tell you that you must use VW / Audi stuff at £4 a bottle or you invalidate your

Manufacturers Warranty.)

The VAG stuff is very good and reasonably priced.

Ive been buying it a few bottles at a time from TPS as and when I need to; half a litre rest water I havent had a problem.

If you have things like telescopic headlamp washers and heated jets its probably best not to use any old crap...but so long as its fan jet compatible should never be an issue.

To the OP...could be the pipe has popped off somewhere. Id suggest not trying to use it until its fixed. Check the rear tyre well in the boot...if its damp or full of water its almost definitely that the pipe had popped apart under pressure from the pump. Can happen if the jet gets blocked severely or the screenwash has frozen.

£4 a litre including VAT is maybe reasonably priced if you do not use much Winter Wash or Screen Wash over a Winter or over a year.

Really good stuff is readily available at quite a lot less money where people go through lots of fluid.
