4x4 mode settings.....

Featured Replies

Can anyone confirm what settings the 4x4 Superbs come with?

My brother in law has a 65 plate Octavia Scout and that has a centre diff lock option (off road setting), just wondering if the Superb has something similar? I'm hoping it does, but won't be surprised if it doesn't.

Steve.

Nope, no settings that I can see. Just standard Haldex operation - so it's pre-emptive 4wd when starting off and under harder acceleration, reactive 4wd when wheel slip detected, 2wd otherwise.

My Yeti has the off-road button, and I guess the "Scout" variants do too - but not the 4x4 Superb.

Oh well, as I suspected.

Cheers for the quick response guys.

Steve.

I assume your brother-in-laws Scout is Haldex-based too, in which case it doesn't have a centre locking diff.

The offroad button does things like dull the throttle response, slightly alter response of systems such as TCS/EDL/ESP etc, and adds downhill drive support (or whatever Skoda call it - it's just a clever use of the ABS/ESP to brake wheels).

Doesn't do anything mechanical - you still just have one diff at the front and one at the rear, and the Haldex unit which really is just a clutch to engage or disengage the rear drive.

Probably no different mechanical parts fitted to the scout than the superb, other than increased ride height.
