Engine Management light orange

Featured Replies

My Engine management light has come on and my temperature gauge doesn't move anymore. I have a fault code of P0118  Engine coolant temp circuit high input.

Is this fixable myself or a garage job? Seems to be a sensor or something.

Any help appreciated and it's a vrs model.

Pretty easy, slightly harder on the VRS as the sensor is on he back of the housing rather than on the top. You should be able to change it without losing too much coolant, maybe a pint/500ml. You don't need any tools, the wiring clips off, and the sensor is held in with a clip that you slide down to get out. Sensor is £10-30 depending on where you buy it.

Sensor is (I think on the VRS) near the right top of the engine. You should see the housing bolted to the engine, with a few pipes coming out of it, one of them quite large. The sensor is on the back of this.

Nice one, thanks for the quick reply. Will have a look tomorrow. Am I still ok to run the car ?

Yes, although fuel economy will probably be not quite as good, cold driving will be slightly worse, and your hot air in the car won't be as hot.
