Octavia pre-fl bad ride

Featured Replies

Is there anything i can do to improve the ride? Its very uncomfortabe especialy on our bad roads. Maybe 17inch wheels can do something cz i have 15inch?

17's will only make whatever's wrong worse

17s might improve roadholding, but I doubt they'll improve the ride

The more rubber, the softer should be the ride. Don't go this direction.

I don't understand the problem completely. What's so wrong about your ride quality? Has it been all the time? Did it change recently? Have you compared this car to other cars (I'm not talking about Mercedes :D).

And UK roads aren't that bad actually.

I live in egypt roads here are very bad, its been always hard and im not sure what to do, compared to my mk6 astra that has 17" its night and day.

Questions...

How old is your car ? How many kms has it done ?

Has it been a poor ride since you bought the car ?

Do you need new shocks ?

The springs are not great (A bit hard IMHO) and I think the car is under damped personally.

I would suggest looking at replacement dampers or after market such as Koni FSD or Bilstein B12 and using some decent springs such as the eibach pro-kit.

I did this and it made the rider firmer, but more forgiving of poor surfaces too.

Obviously this depends on the level of bad, because if your road surfaces resemble the surface of the moon, you might want to look at fitting raised suspension with more travel, such as that on a 4x4 or scout (No idea if the OEM stuff fits)
