PIAA Bulbs

Featured Replies

I've just tried some PIAA Sparkblue H7 bulbs in my Furby. Despite claims that they produce the equiv. of 100w of light, they are very dim. I'd estimate about half the brightness of standard bulbs!

They do look very nice for those of us who dream after HID conversions, but they seem hopelessly dim. I tried driving at night with them - damn near lethal!

Has anyone else had any experience with these? Have I just got a duff pair?:thumbdwn:

Don't believe the marketing BS!!

PIAA are damn expensive as well. Luckily, I have contacts in Japan who sent me some development ExtremeWhite H4's (for my Corrado I owed). They had a nice blue tint but weren't any brighter than normal Halogen bulbs.

I recommend some Osram Silverstars, if you wanna see where you're going!!

I agree, the Osrams make a big difference. Mind you so does cleaning the headlights.

I have washers for that!!:D But still like to wipe them every night.

It's all down to the blue tint on these lamps. You get the HID look as the blue filter gives the lamp a blue tinge but it also drowns out a lot of the light. The only way to counteract this is to go for 100w equivalents but these carry other risks in terms of heat and over loading the standard wiring (unless you put in a separate relay switched supply).
