vRS To Be Written Off

Featured Replies

Unfortunately my vRS was rear ended by a lorry on the M1 on the way home from Birmingham last week causing £4,500 worth of damage, the insurance company are intending on writing it off.

Looks nasty. Trust no one was injured?

There was only me in the vehicle and I was stationary at time of impact ... just soreness and achy muscles

Strong little cars at the end of the day. Glad you were not too badly knocked about.

How did he manage to bend the shell and do that much damage without screwing up the lights and rear screen?

Initially was going to suggest taking bumper off for a look but looking at your rear passenger door, it's going to be a tad ugly.

How much is/was it worth?

Insurance engineer suggesting £2,700

Sorry to hear this :( are you going to buy it back if you can....and break it?

Glad to hear your ok other than bruising. Could have been a lot worse.

Sorry to hear of your bump, just as long as your ok, car done its job and protect you. You can buy another car.

I agree with all the above really, glad to hear your safe, you can buy another car :)

Suprised the glass has stayed in one piece as well! You can see where the rear quarter has been twisted, possibly a cat B write off so it can't be bought back?

£374 if I want to buy it back ... but I don't have the time to break etc

That's not bad, get that for the engine and box really.

Take all the nice bulbs out if they work and pm me ;)

if i where you i would buy another vrs, and stick this in garage/ under a cover... then parts on hand as and when.

...or buy a cheap vw gp car, say a 1.4 TDI with a failed oil pump drive or a post-2005 1.9 TDI with a hole in the block and turn it into a VRS...

ebay currently has a 2008 seat altea TDI with a hole in the side of the block for £1k, for example

I decided against buying it back to break as didn't have the space or time to break it down and sell.

Currently looking for a new motor.

I'd have probably given you £375 for it. :D
