Replacing cigarette socket next to gear shift

Featured Replies

I am looking to change the socket in my 2015 MK3 Octavia as some accessories won't plug into the one fitted, it seems too narrow and non standard.

Has anyone done this easily, as I am disabled and can't crawl about too much. If it is just a matter of a few screws to gain access to back, then fine.

Not too sure about the standard lighter socket, but quite a few people have added additional sockets in the glove box by hard wiring directly to the fuse box when doing dashcam installations.

A link to the webcam threads are here:

Easier than removing transmission tunnel and easier to reverse when you sell.

You can download the Skoda Workshop Manual from here: http://www.fileshare.ro/e31335558

There is the way to remove the cig plug, you need a Extractor tool: T40148 for it, about £ 25-30.

Many thanks Grumpy for taking the time to give me insight on how to do it.

Unfortunately, when you search a little further, if you don't have an iluminated lighter socket (which mine doesn't) in your motor, you can't use the removal tool as it damages things as it tries to get it out.

Thanks anyway
