Invalid/missing importer code blocking update

Featured Replies

I was working on an Octavia III this morning to swap over the rear fogs from Germany to UK mode, as per this thread of andyvee's http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/299424-octavia-iii-vcds-adaptations-tried-and-tested/#entry3567267 but I can't get VCDS to accept the changes.

What I think is causing the issue is an importer code of 000 even though the workshop code and equipment number are present. From the scan:

Address 09: Cent. Elect. (J519)       Labels: 5Q0-937-08X-HV1.clb
   Part No SW: 5Q0 937 084 AA    HW: 5Q0 937 084 AA
   Component: BCM MQBAB H   H14 0112
   Serial number: 00011324602652
   Coding: 0D000A42C24722FB07A04080B10C07280000000000000000000000000000

   Shop #: WSC 11323 000 1048576

The original swap was done by a dealer, and I've not seen a partial code like this before. Trying the update results in the uninitialised control module error like this

No doesn't work because of the 000, and taking Yes to get 123 in the exporter code still gets blocked. Does this mean the update can only be done at the dealers? Is there any other way around this?

Try setting your own workshop code values in VCDS to a valid one pulled from another module on the car such as 790?

What version of VCDS are you using?

I got the impression setting workshop codes in the Options was a one-way change, and it could cause complications later. Or do you mean when you take the Cancel option from that dialog you get to set the workshop manually?

It didn't like the use of 123 with the existing 11323 xxx 1048576 codes. That particular set of codes was only present in that one address/module, which is why I thought it was there from the original swap of rear fog lights.

VCDS is version is 15.7.1. Would I gain anything by trying the latest beta version (assuming that's available outside a controlled group)?

it might be a moot point anyway if the O3 owner takes it back to a dealer - though I suggested someone more experienced like Mike Holroyd might be an option, as the owner is on the north side of York.

15.7.1 is the latest software, there is no newer Beta version atm

The WSC that VCDS generated for me on the newest MKIII I have done the fog light swap on (15 Plate) was:

Compared to your:

That's not a generated WSC, that will have been there from the factory
