Hi,

Due to a highly regrettable loss in the family my wife and myself now have the car that her father had, a Skoda Octavia Estate 1.9TDi, 04 plate, automatic.

I've always gone for older cars personally due to lack of computers and am about to hand the keys to my beloved M-reg Vauxhall Astra to my brother.

Never had electric windows before so this is a luxury to drive. I love it.

I came in here via Google while trying to find out what the "RES" is for on the indicator stick, I can see the + and - and first thought it was cruise control but now know that it's not that after trying it out, either that or there's a way to initialise it like there is to start the car in the first place :)

Delivery driver now, ex-computer programmer/maintenance and before anyone shouts "white van man" yes I am and I drive the car like I drive my work van - to the speed limit and calmly. Don't like rushing around :)

Welcome along bud :)

Enjoy the forum and enjoy the motor!

Hi Zeb

If you are ever near Exmouth I can see if the cruise control is activated on VCDS for you.  It definitely sounds like it has the kit installed. :)

Welcome along and RES is to do with cruise control AFAIK.

RES = Resume

There should be a rocker switch on the top of the indicator stalk - make sure that is set to on.

Then drive along at say 30mph and click either the set/res button to set the cruise - a green icon will light up on the dash.

You can then hold the - or + buttons to add or lose speed.
