That looks to me that it might be over the repair limit for an insurance job so I'm going with write off.  However if you were to buy it back it could be repaired quite quite frugally. I beleive there is a MK2 (FL) being dismantled in the parts / for sale section. The front end will be no good for you as it's a FL.

Nasty one. How could anyone do that by accident? Surely that's more than just a nudge from a misplaced reverse.

Think it should be salavalagble. Id ask a body shop to put it on a body jig to check the chassis though

you wont know for sure till the insurance say so but i'd say it looks like an insurance write off.

I had a small dent just to the right of the number plate on the back. That being fixed plus as new rear lamp as it was broken and the bumper resprayed due to scratches cost just under £1k

I am going with write off, there is not much value in a pre facelift Octy2 so it will not take much damage to write it off. I am guessing there will be a whole lot more damage beneath the bumper so it could cost several K at least to repair.

Looks like a deliberate act of damage. But I do not know the circumstances. Have you got the other parties details to assist the claim on your car and house? I'd report the incident to the police ,at least, if you have nothing to conceal .

Check with all the neighbours in the street, someone is bound to have CCTV.

Jesus what is wrong with some people?!

Either an old person (who probably ought to relinquish their licence) or someone without insurance.

Sadly would say given the age of the car and the relative significance of the damage (in that the rear slam panel and impact zones will need repairing) it'll likely be uneconomical to insurance repair.

Reported to the police and I have a reg number thanks to my neighbour so that's a big bonus .

Insurance say it's a mobility car Hyundai ix35 so hopefully he tries to claim on his insurance saying he's come to his car in a car park and someone's hit it then gets done for insurance fraud

Dude that sucks!!!

What have your insurence people said?!?

Seems odd how there's that much damage if he's just accidentally gone into your motor....

How is your next door chapie sure its them?

Result, have the police said they'll pay them a visit?

Leaving the scene of an accident without stopping / providing insurance details?

I recon write off mines a cat D and the only damage was a cracked front bumper they will write these off for anything now the value is low, as someone else said get a claim in get your few grand buy the car back and stick a new front and rear bumper and new bonnet on and you will have a few gs left over for crimbo if they pay out fast enough.

Wow, how hard did he hit it? Have you heard anything from the police? Really crap that people can do something like that and not stop. Gutted for you.

I'm sorry, you're expecting to the police to actually do something? Blimey. This sort of thing isn't part of a target and so is so far off the priority list it's unreal.
