Reasons to wash your own car...

Featured Replies

Tempted to lock this before we see it covered in snow foam! :p

U mean lock him away in a mental hospice  :giggle:  :peek:

It has previously been said that you do not fully appreciate the body contours of your car until you wash it (by hand).

How true this is,

I loved the way the Superb looked the 1st time I saw one in the metal, but washing it today was almost erotic  ... god there are some nice contours on the MKIII !!

Obviously washing it yourself (if done ‘properly’) minimised the chance of doing damage to the paintwork as well.

Totally agree!!

Glad you are enjoying every aspect of the new car

Oops...

:D  :D  :D

I blame the mod

Lol

Reminds me of something years ago....  ah yes climax

oh,  Coventry Climax of course

The first thing I did when we got the Mk2 Superb home was give her a thorough detail (told the garage not to touch her, PDI it and then leave it).

For the Mk3 Superb coming on 1st March I've put in for holiday so I get to spend the day (and the next three) giving her a thorough going over again.

My manager was a little surprised.

Manager: So you want the 1st March off?

Me: Yes I've got something on.

Manager: Oh, what's that?

Me: The new car comes on 1st March

Manager: What are you getting?

Me: Mk3 Superb in petrol blue, etc... I'll be giving her a clean.

Manager: But it'll already be clean!

Colleague who I clean a car for: Yes but it won't be Sven clean!

Manager: But it's only a car and your booking a holiday night off work to clean a new clean car!

We are in a big minority!!

I had the same sort of conversation when ordering my current car. But the manager I was talking to was the sales manager! He wasn't at all happy about me driving it off without it being `prepared` by them following the PDI. In the end I had to go to the dealer principle to get my way. It was worth it though.

I'm still known at our dealership as the guy who won't let them touch his car.

All the signs go up in the car and I sit with my back against the window so I can watch the garage doors when the car goes in for a service. Hee hee.

That's different

Nobody around here washes their car regularly..

How many of them are visitors to DW I wonder?

How times change.  It used to be a Sunday thing with most in the street doing it.  Probably before Sunday opening for all the shops or we are just lazy now.

+1,

SWMBO’s Yeti went in for service yesterday (with my old private plate on), despite me not even being there they remembered me  :D and not to wash it... it was pretty rank as well as it was only just getting light when she set off, so I washed it when she returned.
