Bolero sd card gremlins/problems

Featured Replies

Has anyone experienced any problems playing sd cards via bolero. Reason I ask is that for weeks I have been playing songs via an sd card no problem. Then last week bolero would not play the sd card saying card is not compatible/ can!t read card or something like that. I checked the card on my computer and it played no problem, inserted same card back into the sd slot and hey presto it worked. Now today whilst driving I was playing songs from the sd card and then stopped the car and turned off ignition, when car was restarted an 1hour later the same problem reoccurred.

Any persons experienced this problem and if so how was it fixed.

No problems so far with my SD card.

I'd try another SD card first. If that plays up also its the car.

No problem with SD card. Although once in a while I need to remove & re insert the USB. SD is a 64 and USB a 32.

Any of you using Macs to save to your SD cards ?  Seems to cause a problem for people on forums here, when updating maps on Columbus/Amundsen -- not sure if it affects music files on some headunits as well??

(If so - the easy fix is "Cleanup SMB Mess" - a free download - just run it after saving data to SD card.)

Hi - yes - I use a Mac but I've had no trouble with my SD card not playing in the Bolero.

However, as implied in #4, the Mac's Finder app seems to leave a lot of hidden but deleted files lying around, which are seen by the Bolero and don't of course play.  So you find a folder of music with a whole lot of unplayable files at the beginning all beginning with "._", followed by the playable ones at the end.  I expect what that download recommended above does is to delete these but if you're happy using a Terminal window, all you need to do is navigate to the root of the SD card and then issue this command:

find . -name "._*" -delete

This finds all files on the disk starting with "._" and deletes them.  There are a couple of other files in the root that you might want to delete while you're at it - they also start with a "." (so are treated by Finder as hidden).  You'll probably find files called something like:

.fseventsd

.Spotlight-V100

.Trashes

If it'll let you, you can delete these too (with the rm command).

Once you've done all this don't view the SD card again with Finder or they'll be re-created and you'll have to delete them again.

Warning: do make sure you're in the root of the correct disk before you attempt this!
