18" alloys on a Yeti...

Featured Replies

Recently we bought a used set of Audi Q3 alloys, to use as winter wheels on our new Superb.

They are 7" x 18" rims, and I've fitted 225/45/18 Dunlop Winter Sport 5 tyres on them.

Turns out they're a perfect size for the Yeti as well.

While swapping my Yeti over to its winter steels today, and thought I'd pop a couple of the Audi alloys on temporarily, to see what they look like.

Looks quite good I reckon, a hell of a lot nicer than 16" steels with trims !

Think my wife might notice if her new Superb started sporting 16" steels though.....

Yep that looks well

I hate steel wheels and black alloys.

Very nice BUT stand by for the anti-18" brigade.

Yeah, I'm a fully signed up member of the anti-18" brigade. Generally, I think big wheels look naff and deliver poor ride quality.

16" black steel wheels for me this winter!

LOL, I expect nothing less from the Yeti forum :D

You couldn't be swayed to go with 19"s then? :D

I agree, the ride on 18" wheels will be harsh.  My winters are black steel 16"s.

The anti-18" brigade can relax and sleep tonight, in the knowledge it was only a temporary fit. They will be going on our new Superb (which incidentally is very comfortable indeed on 18" wheels).

It's now got bouncy 60-profile tyres on 16" poverty steel rims for winter.

Have to say though, I thought those alloys did look pretty good :)

When ever i see those wheels I always think they look too spindly.

Love them, and photographed in the gorgeous Swindon weather too!

Minilites would look good but wouldn't be light though.

The roads are obviously better over there!

Not when I was passing today, it was hissing it down.

Mind me asking.. Why such wide wheels for winters? Be better with narrower wouldnt it?

They're not going on the Yeti, I just popped them on to see what they looked like.

They're going on our new Superb.

OE tyres are 235, these are slightly narrower at 225 as the rims aren't wide enough for 235s (although when stacked up on their sides, 4 high, they are less tall than my Yeti's 215s stacked next to them...?)

For the 95% of winter when there's no snow, don't see the point in going any narrower.

Fair shout (:

Bloody wide innit, 235 haha.

Enjoy (:

Did I see in another post you're from Derbyshire too ?

Oh and the Superb is 4wd too, so aside from ground clearance we should be OK :)

Just looked at that again and noticed the headlights. Presumably some sort of body-coloured mask stuck on the top edge ?

Also note the LED fog lights, it's quite a subtle makeover, little bits here and there... While I'm not a fan of the tuner scene I do quite like that Yeti. :)

I think you will find they are not fog lights, but additional DRL's, also from the same supplier as the headlight masks.

The DRL,s on the photo of the Yeti are Hella LEDay flex DRL,s or a copy of said product. Very expensive to purchase ( Hella brand) and have to be individually mounted on the lower bumper apperture as they are 5 separate DRL,s on each side of the lower bumper. You can buy copies which are much cheaper. Worth noting that Superskoda no longer have them on sale ( Hella product)
