Stupid dpf!

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Slightly getting fed up with the car running so crap!

The car seems to be regening itself on a daily basis now and driving crap!

Also got stuck in traffic in way home and dpf light came on so did the normal to get it off then when I pulled into the drive it tries to Regen itself after , slightly getting fed up now. Anybody have any ideas what to do to stop this ?

Thanks

Dan

Have it removed or replaced.

I too had quite a few issues with the car performing a regen a few times a week so I stripped my EGR and throttle flap out cleaned it out well and it certainly helped in reducing the number of regen's. Have you had a look at the car with Vag Com? Could always be a faulty pressure sensor?

I find not using supermarket fuel help. When mine does the regen, I go for a twenty min drive in 4th doing 60 then a 5 min cool down with easy driving.

Cheers for the replies I'm just worried its something else causing it. I had the egr replaced just over a week ago as it broke due to the valve failing on it

I've got similar issues myself, vag com pointed me to the G450 pressure sensor, which I have a new one that I'll be fitting tomorrow.

Thought about removing the DPF but with the new law passed about removing them I have a suspicion that it may become part of the MOT test in the future. Just my thoughts might not happen, but going to sit tight on that one for a while.

I think all my problems may be the tandem fuel pump , just did a test of the oil on a bit of paper and it has a halo round the edge of it :( anybody know how easy it is to replace ??

Not too hard, I did mine last weekend. Just a bit fiddly and diesel tends to leak out.

Just remove the bloody thing, the car, your wallet and your enjoyment of the car will thank you for it.

If and only 'if' the MOT changes in our life time you can stick it back on.

The cost of aftermarket DPF's are reducing every month, much in the same way catalytic converters did.

If you need to put one back on in a few years time it'll cost you a few hundred quid, by which time you'll have enjoyed a much better car.

Only those who have had to live with a PD170 with a faulty DPF really know how bad it can be.

Shark have a very good reputation. It's a full day out to get down to Mansfield but for £450 you won't regret it...
