Embarrassed by a Fabia Sport...

Featured Replies

...well not exactly, just spent so much time checking one over at the lights that I missed them changing and he sped off (well, maybe not 'sped' - drove!) Looked at one in a showroom once, but never from carseat level.

Likes:

No rubbing strips on doors

Non-homologation bumper on front looks reasonably smart in a rounded sort of way (I think it's the standard one for 05MY onwards?)

White side repeater lenses

vRS-style seats, but in a very sensible black

6-spoke 15" alloys were good in a slightly 'cute' kind of way

Dislikes:

That AWFUL exhaust trim, that isn't even functional AFAICS - the exhaust gases seem to come out of a hole on the bottom!

Cut-price interior (but you can't see that from the inside - that's just something I remember from the showroom)

One thing I would say is that from a distance it did actually look the bizz. was quite impressed in an 'all mouth, no trousers' kind of way... I still don't think they're brilliant, but they're not as bad as I originally thought, either...

It's a sporty looking car, without being sporty.

The later versions have the 1.2 which is ok, the 1.4 is probably slower most of the time (unless you really, really cane it). When the switching gear for the electric windows was moved back to the correct spot (i.e. not in the console) it looked pretty nice tbh, maybe worth considering for SWMBO at some point as they're reliable :)

Looking at taking delivery of a Fab 1.2 sport fairly soon. I have to say that we liked the seats in it, very supportive and certainly won't get as dirty as a vRS interior would. Cheap to run and insure, especially as we don't do huge mileage as its a second car.

Going to have one in black to match my Octy !

I think the original consensus on here was that the 1.2 unit or the 1.4PD would have been better than the 1.4 petrol. IIRC stock Sports originally had keep-fit windows, and some dealers had retro-fitted electric ones - hence the switches on the dash. Sounds like Skoda have been having the same thoughts if the new ones get the 1.2 and standard electric windows!

Turns the Sport into quite an attractive proposition I think!

Looks sporty but so did my 850 Mini in 1975

but for a second car to run around in, its nice and cheap on a PCP deal !!

I'm waiting for the "I beat a vRS" thread from the sport owner! :P

They're OK I guess, but a bit of a half assed attempt to be honest. I would just like the seats as they have the good bolsters.

students car.... tbh with the accessories iv got for my car other than the seats and red seatbelts iv turned mine into a sport

Just an afterthought, but the seats didnt seem to be the vRS seats (I know, they're a different colour too), and for some reason it hurt my back, no clue why :(
