No,red is permanent live, white is ignition live.

Ideal cheers bud

Actually, why does it need a permanent live?

just looked at your pic again and 'accessory' usually means ignition live.

What gauge is it?

Its a pro sport gauge

I have got the gauge to work but what does the white wire go to ? Green is to the sender unit so just going to run that across now and gotta wait but i cant see what the white one does :s

From what I can gather by reading online, the white wire is for gauge illumination. I think it looks like the gauge is always illuminated as long as the ignition is on. The orange wire going to the headlight switch appears to be for the purpose of dimming the gauge once the lights are turned on so the gauge isn't too bright at night. I think maybe the gauge lights up white during the day and a more subtle amber at night.

So, basically, connect white to an ignition live.

O ideal cheers i was woundering how to change the colour of it tbf will give it ago tomorrow

As above really, I have Prosport gauges in mine. My 60mm digital boost gauge has pretty much the same wiring. Here's the breakdown...

  • The white wire is for an ignition live. This basically powers up the unit when you turn the ignition on.
  • The red wire is permanent live. I'm presuming that you have a warning feature or peak recall. Hence the gauge needs a permanent live to keep the settings that you choose every time you turn the ignition off.
  • Amber is to be connected to a switched live, i.e. power runs through it when you turn the exterior lights on.
  • Black is for earth.

I've taken the wiring from the headlight switch plug. Put a test lamp in each switch until you find what you need. I've earthed it out separately onto the fusebox mounting point.

The orange and white wires can be interchanged. Depending on which way round you wire them decides which colour your gauge illuminates (looks like a dual illumination from your instructions). Or you can omit one of the wires to keep it permanently one colour. My Prosport gauges are white in the daytime, then turn to green to fit in with my dash lights when I turn the lights on.

That makes sence now , i used the red and amber in a ignition live and earth out in the same place as you. Theres no buttons on the gauge so dont think theres peak recall. So its red when the ignitions on and same when the lights are on, i might have ago again then and play around and see if i can get it to change colour with the lights on or off cheers for the help

Yeah didn't think it needed a permanent live.

Usually it would say 'permanent +12v' or summat like that, accessory lives are ignition live.
