Steering wheel faults

Featured Replies

I've done a scan using Carista looking for other faults giving the car problems at the mo and this also came up.  I've no idea what they mean, as far as I can tell the steering wheel and ignition work...  Any ideas?  Car is 2008 Octavia 2.0 TDI CR 170 vRS

Steering wheel
Part #: 1K0953549CA
Component: J0527
Coding: 42 (decimal)
Fault codes:
00576 Terminal 15
00883 Ignition starter switch (clamp S)
00884 Ignition starter switch (clamp X)
01744 Ignition/starter Switch (D) (Terminal P)
00885 Ignition starter switch (clamp 50)

If you clear the codes do they come back?

They could have been there for some time, for example if the car has had a new ignition switch at any point.

Yes they do.  I've cleared the codes a couple of times now to check another fault and the car has had others repaired and cleared by Skoda in the past.  As far as I'm aware these are fairly recent.

The part number refers to the 'electronic module for steering column combination switch' or steering wheel control module.  Any ideas what it does?
