Dr Who star swaps TARDIS for Skoda

The new Doctor Who heart-throb has revealed that, far from being a flash ladies' man, he's a dull bloke who drives a Skoda.

David Tennant, who recently played legendary lover Casanova, said in an interview: "I live in north London and drive a Skoda. I'm afraid that's as interesting as it gets.

Speaking to the Radio Times about his forthcoming role in ITV drama Secret Smile, he added: "I always disappoint on the personal questions. I have no hobbies or pursuits.

Tennant, who recently topped a list of TV's hottest talent, says he's determined that, unlike some actors, he won't become caught up by the world of showbiz.

"Anything that's vocational and over-subscribed is going to necessitate bad behaviour from a certain kind of person. You can get some very talented people who are just heart-stoppingly out of touch with the world," he said.

"Once you've reached a certain level of success, you can drift quite far from reality without anyone to stop you. But only if you allow it to happen.

The 34-year-old, who makes his debut as the time lord in a Christmas special, also played down his good looks, describing himself as "a skinny streak of nothing".
