Special tool to remove Oil Filter

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I intend doing a basic service on my 2007 Octavia 1.9 Diesel in the new year.

I have ordered all of the parts / fluids online.

As I have zero experience with Skoda models (serviced my own Nissan cars for the past few years) I'm wondering if I need that special tool to remove the Oil Filter housing, or will I get away with a socket set or filter wrench, both of which I own?

Thanks for any advice.

Olivia.

You need a 32mm socket, this is the 2.0 CR but I believe the set-up on the 1.9 PD is similar...

I needed to use a longer breaker bar on mine as it was really tight...

This link is for a SEAT Altea, but it is the same 1.9 diesel engine as the Octavia, some more useful pictures...

Definitely the same cap on the 1.9.

You can use a chain tool on it if you're desperate as it's not meant to be on very tight but you do run the risk of damaging it if you do that too many times.

Thanks guys, I reckon I should be OK with my socket set so. It's a good brand and has V small to V large size sockets.

I just got a little concerned when I saw the "official" tool on ebay!!

Olivia.

You can buy anything "official" but these things usually cost more then a simple tool that can do the same thing :)
