Which is the worst / best depreciation disaster under 3 years old from Skoda?

Featured Replies

I know about the ongoing and unresolved NoX Scandal with Diesels and all that stuff being said about predicted values,

but looking at buying a Middle size to Large Skoda Hatch or Estate now in Petrol or Diesel, Manual or Auto.

(So still in 3 years Manufacturers Warranty Yeti, Octavia or Superb.)

What is the very best possible Skoda Used Buy under 3 years old because they were expensive when purchased and are selling or advertised now for lots less because they are depreciation disasters?

ie

Maybe ideal buys as a keeper!

thanks for any opinions or experience / knowledge shared.

I wouldn't have thought there were many Skoda depreciation disasters.

How about a specced up Superb 3.6 estate with high mileage ?

Cars with poor fuel economy depreciate the fastest.

You therefore need the biggest / heaviest model - Superb.

And a version that has since been replaced - Superb MkII, pre-facelift (2009-2014). Since superseded by the MkII facelift and now the all new MkIII.

Something ugly - that will be the Twindoor (hatch & saloon), not the estate.

With the biggests, thirstiest, least popular engine / transmission - 3.6, petrol, 4x4, DSG.

And finally something over three years old and with a fair amount of mileage.

This one was owned by a member on here, a lot of car for not a lot of money (even though it is still a trade sale so inflated by at least £2K)...

I do high mileage so couldn't play the game properly but I am quite satisfied I'm getting close to luxury and reliable motoring for as cheap as it gets in my Superb :sun:

Thanks.

Post is about under 3 year old,

so still with the Manufacturers Warranty in the UK.

Other depreciation disasters are very interesting but not answering the question.

The same rules apply, you just need to go younger and therefore more expensive.

There are currently seven 3.6 V6 Superb's on Autotrader, five of which are still in warranty.

Quick Google says Superb is the worst deprecating Skoda car, no particular model but as Silver says the thirstiest will be the worst.

It works like that pretty much with most manufactures the biggest car depreciates the most.

The smaller the car the more sellable it is.

I have looked at the cheapest of the Superb 3.6 V6's on Autotrader as it is near me.

(that price in a right hand drive would be OK.)

The others advertised there have not yet taken the dive in asking or selling price.

None of them are really that bad.

Superb with the 3.6 is probably your best best but maybe not even that since the price of petrol has hit the floor for now.

Plus the 3.6 4x4 is probably a bit of a rarity.

Just pay more and buy a scout, they hang onto their money like crazy.

Broadspeed are showing £7,602 available discount on a RRP of £30,010

'Seat Leon X-Perience 2.0TDI 184ps SE Tech DSG'.

Much cheapness available now on AWD VAG Diesels or certainly on Seats.

It will be interesting to see how low the Asking Prices will need to go with Ex Demonstrators (management cars) as Dealers (Seat) need top them sold on.
