Any tips to remove polish from door shuts etc

Featured Replies

My cars had a full machine polish recently which I'm extremely happy with apart from I've now got polish along all the edges of doors and seals etc.

I've cleaned the car twice since, hosing the car first, washing said areas and scrubbing with a detailing brush. They look fine at the time but over the next day or two once dried and the suns back on them I see more white polish everywhere!

Mainly where the wings meet the bumper and around the doors/Windows.

Who did the polishing to leave crust in the gaps? :o

Anyway, I'd recommend using a little brush of some sort.  I have a little variety of round brushes which look a little like basting brushes for your turkey :D  They work well.

Too much polish used as Jason says...Who did it?

If its stuck on, then some All Purpose cleaner on a cloth will remove it..or use some QD spray and wipe off

A small brush, as said will help in the nooks and crannies

You may need to pick it out with a cocktail stick if it's right in the gap buddy. APC will strip your protection off there, which if you've paid for someone to apply it , you will waste your money, so I'd go the qd route.

Maybe get the bloke round who did it to sort it if he's a detailer, but if it's a favour from a friend you will have to bite the bullet and do it yourself.

It was more of a favour. The spoiler was fading so got that painted and asked for the polish if he could do it. It was more of a sweetener I guess.

I guess cocktail sticks will have to do it then, I've tried the cleaning with a soft brush and it doesn't shift it all.

Not knowing how soft your soft brush is you could try using it in a stippling action just using the tip of the brush carefully.

As Prykey says, a soft ish brush may help to get into the gaps

APC wont matter as its only polish.. a light dab around with some wax afterwards will top up your protection

Good luck

I would go along with Neil on this one, my preferred method.

Although - the brush i normally use on excess polish or wax is this one;

worth throwing in the basket next time you order from CYC:-
