Playing Video

Featured Replies

I think this may have been flirted around before, but what is the definitive output to look for if, say downloading videos onto a sd card to play in the Columbus? I know HD is a nono, but is there a simple format to look for? Sorry if this has been already covered

There is a list in the Columbus manual. In simple terms you need to use MP4 video with a maximum resolution of 720x576 pixels. This is the non-HD standard we used to have before HD came along.

I have found that the system is very sensitive to format and pixel count. It shouldn't be when the right format is used but my saved files on a video server frequently won't work when when correctly setup. Still working out why.

EDIT: List/Guidance is on pages 31-34 in the PDF Columbus manual.

720x576 is standard DVD resolution so if you have backups of your legally purchased DVDs then they should work fine, in MP4 format of course...
