Stage 1

Featured Replies

I'm trying to find some info. I want go for Shark Stage 1 but I'm really afraid that this will damage me DSG box. As far as I know this stage will lift torque to 400Nm i think this is a bit too much for 6-speed DSG (2009). Comparing to this http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/litrequestform.php this box max torque is 350Nm. What do you think? Please share your opinions

Merry Christmas to all of you!!!!

Is this the TSI or the the TDI? I'm guessing TSI, given the 400 figure (TDI is 420 at Stage 1). The stock figure for the 170 TDI is already a conservative 350 - the same engine in my Yeti was 368nm on Shark's rollers as standard (438nm with the Stage 1). I'm pretty sure I've read on here and elsewhere the 350nm limit on the DSG box is only in software and can also be remapped for up to 500nm or so. There are quite a few on here running Stage 1 with a DSG box without issues.

Give Shark a call and see what they say, but I don't think the DSG box is a limiting factor for just a Stage 1.

I have spoken to Shark and i know stage 1 will lift torque to 400Nm. I can go for DSG remapping but I don't have enough £££'s to do both I never asked them if stage 1 only on engine will be okay with standard DSG software it may be worth to give them a call again

Sorry this is TSI

Do you know if shark are doing any offers in the next few days,i am looking at getting a bluefin, but if shark do a good offer i could well be tempted :)

You get a 10% discount as a FREEDOM member on a Shark Stage 1 - that's a (so far at least) permanent offer.

Hi unfortunately I never heard about any offers this time i was hoping to get better deal during this Christmas , the price i was given before Christmas was £680 for StS box I know this is really expensive but I'm sure they will do the best what they can for my engine. Still need my wife to say yes , currently I'm working on this

FREEDOM is just £12 and knocks £50 off the Stage 1 - well worth considering.

Definitively will go for it Thanks

i'm at stage 2+ (275hp / 405Nm), and i also have a dsg tune.  the dsg tune allows the transmission to handle upto 450-500Nm.

the DQ250 transmission unit can handle a lot more than 350Nm!!

been a few years now, no issues.

u got nothing to worry about with the stage 1.

Yes I know as they're on annual leave until 4th Jan but I think we can "massage" the price if we get four or more people together

Yeah my mk2 petrol vrs last week came out of its factory warranty so now looking for remap

So we may have 5 people already How do we do group buys usually? Shall we first talk to Shark or open new threat ? I think 5 people is quite many so we can count on discount.

A new "threat" may be excessive lol

Mine is running stage 1 265bhp and 300ft lb .

i've been running apr hardware and software.

20% off is good.

we never get any more than 15% off down under :(

Thanks JR RS,

I woud really prefer Shark as they do STS so I would not need to travel so far.

I will leave this as the second option
