Help pls locking woes

Featured Replies

My skoda fabia estate mk 1 drivers door has started having locking issues...

The door locks with the remote, but it can only be unlocked by pulling the interior door handle. The outside door handle will then work to open the door once it has been unlocked with the interior handle.

The locking indicator doesn't seem to move up or down as it once did but the door led still operates as normal.

I've had the door card off and there doesn't seem to be a quick fix.

Any ideas pls? Many thanks...

Has anyone got any ideas on parts for a fix and what it would cost pls? Could I move parts from another door I use less often to fix the drivers door? Also would this be an MOT failure being unable to unlock and open the door from the outside if I didn't lock the doors before taking it for a test? Cheers

No love for me?

Any ideas anyone?

TIA

It's probably the locking unit inside the drivers door. There are several microswitches inside them that can fail. You need to get a unit with exactly the same part number. Genuine ones aren't cheap.

If you want to see what's inside them here's a good video...
