wheel bearing washer?

Featured Replies

Ive just had the passenger rear wheel bearing changed on my brothers fabia vrs, however the big torx nut seems to be missing a washer, as grease is leaking out when turning the bearing by hand.

Been given mixed info, some garages have said there is no washer behind the torx nut, others said there is or don't know.

Anyome happen to know?

Without going out in the dark and looking I seem to remember the nut has like a built in washer / shoulder but that wouldnt stop grease its the cap that pops on the end that does that maybe they lost the cap or you never had one??

Yeah there is no washer but there should be a metal cap.

I see, so is it normal for grease to escape?

I do have the cap as its a brand new bearing that I had fitted, I was just worried about the grease escaping whilst turning the bearing by hand..

No its fine just excess grease is all. There is a seal on the other dude of the bearing so it cant go that way. Better to see some grease than none. Smack the cap back on and leave it well alone lol.
