Any Experience Of These Bulbs?

Featured Replies

I have silver ones fitted from HIDS Direct. No issues and give a nice orange glow

Got a pair of Silver Vision’s in the rear of the Yeti:

Look much better and are just as orange when lit

If the Philips Silver Vision indicator bulbs are similar to Osram's Diadem's then I've heard that they aren't quite as bright as the standard orange bulbs...

Standard on the left, Diadem's on the right...

I had these in my 2013 monte and they where great, cheaper than the Phillips but just as reputable.

I would offer £7.50

Regards the fog light upgrades, I'd strongly recommend you stay away from any CREE or LED/SMD bulbs, they are all style and no substance, trust me I found that out. I put in 80w CREE into mine and for all the useable light they put out I may as well have eaten more carrots! I would suggest the Mtecs you linked to but in the 55w version and possibly the diamond white or if you have deeper pockets then try these

They would probably outlast the Mtec and out perform.

The newer bulbs are certainly better than the picture you have posted Silver, the pic you have posted almost look as though the bulbs aren't drawing as much current.

I used Osram Diadems and was very happy with results, lost the egg yoke effect :)

Had the Mtech's in my fogs and they were great for keeping everything a similar colour, never really tried them in true fog at night only fog in daytime but looked great as I also ran a HID kit @ 5000k so it all looked similar to the standard vRS DRL's.

Thanks guys. I have the silver vision in my BMW and they are very bright orange and also use the mtecs in the fogs which are a much better colour, was keen to see if others had had similar experience with the Octavia. :)

I can't see 55w versions of the mtec h8, similarly don't think osram do an h8 nightbreaker.........?

You can use H11 as a replacement to H8 the fitment is almost identical.

The Volvo XC90 uses the silver coated bulbs from the factory for the rear indicators so the latest versions must be much better than they used to be...

My LED replacements in the fogs.

They are significantly brighter than the originals and almost overpower the xenons when switched on. :)

Beam pattern is almost perfect. To tell the truth I did not adjust the lamps lower. I don't use them when there's oncoming traffic.

They work very well in heavy fog as well.

The only downside is that they are not dimmable, so the cornering function works like ON/OFF without fade out. No problem for me. :)

I bought from a different seller, but the product is similar to this:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2x-Plug-Play-30W-H1-led-ETI-Chips-headlights-All-in-one-car-H7-H8-H9/32280472297.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.73.7Sqrdc&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_2,searchweb201644_1_79_78_77_82_80_62_81_61,searchweb201560_1

I had to code the fogs to LED with VCDS.

I went for the 4300K color to match the xenons + DRLs.

I've had no experience with 'proper' LED replacements, just the standard kind, these are ETI chips aren't they? Completely different technology. I'm now very tempted to try a pair in the fogs, not in the main headlight unit though, I'm happy with the HID conversion.

Are they too bright for cornering lights?

Yes, they were sold as ETI chips. As you can see mine is an older version with hemisphere LEDs.

I would say the brightness is about 150% compared to the original bulbs. Not too bright for me. :)

Here's a comparison video: http://www.mediafire.com/watch/na1nrell0ap528c/IMG_0184.MOV

As always, the LEDs are brighter than in the pics/video.

aki78, in the reviews for these bulbs one of the comments is that they go into 'low power' mode when overheating after about 25-30 minutes. Have you experienced this?

Yep, this is what happened when I tested the bulbs in my garage.

They were not mounted in the lamp just placed on the floor.

Probably the cooling effect is better when the car is moving..?

Otherwise the bulbs are really great, my friend is very happy with them.

Awesome, I just ordered 4 so I might ask you for help when it comes time to install them if that's OK :)

I am interested in buying these, for front fog lamps:

http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H8-35W-LED/?bulb_search=car&end=front

did anyone use them? I have an O3 FL with stock LED lamps. I am interested to know if the light color is the same. If 6000k is enough. I have fitted Osram halogen 4300k and they are still yellowish. I want to have th same white light.
