HELP w DTUK box

Featured Replies

Can someone shed some light for me that has used these boxes past or present.

I have purchased one off a fellow brisky member. As I understand there are 4 maps within the box (older crdt) which are set with jumpers.

I am unsure do each of these maps increase bhp and torque levels the higher up the maps you go? IE map 2 =200 bhp approx / map 4 = 210bhp and so on.

Also can anyone tell me what the +1, +2 and +3 jumper do exactly. I've read they "fine tune" the maps but read different stories about boost levels etc.

Octavia vrs tdi 170 just to add.

I've tried to get a similar answer out of DTUK direct for the latest box fitted to my Ibiza and they were cagey leaning towards evasive.

Nothing firmer than "all boxes are individually mapped and we can't define the maps as map 1 = more torque, map 2 = more toque & bhp, etc."

They suggested the only way to find the best solution was trial and error.

On my latest box 1 is standard, 2 is better, 3 is mo of everything but a bit harsh.

The + and - options then tweak the maps dependant.

I tend to run wither map 2 with ++ or map 3 with a - to smooth it a bit.

Do the - settings smooth the maps much? See I'm also debating whether all the maps produce the same power but each bring their own power delivery into play at different stages of the Rev range. Hard to gauge I suppose without a rolling road test.

Think I'm going to change back down to 2-2 As the higher setting I'm on now is very punchy bit like a PD engine and very aggressive. I want to save my clutch for a few months atleast ha

DTUK said they'd be able to help me if I was an actual customer of theirs as they could track exactly which box they'd sold me and tell me what exact software was on the box. As I (and you) are secondhand customers they'll be unable to help as they can't know for sure what it is we've got.

On my experience yes the +/- settings do make a difference.

I drove 2--- and then swapped at 2+++ and the difference was quite marked.

I think it'll be down to personal preference and tweaking to find what you prefer.

I ran 1+++ then moved to 2+, then 2++, then 3, then 3+++ which put the car into limp mode, so wound it back to 3++, but got a weird surging on constant throttle/cruise control, so went back to 2++, then my tyres were knackered and it was raining so all I got was wheel spin, so turned the box of completely, new tyres meant back to 2++, then a DPF light meant back to 1++ for a couple of days, then I seemed to have high tick over so knocked it off again, a week's respite and it's now back on 2++

Yeah I suppose it's finding wharf best for your vehicle isn't it really. 2-2 for me seems great though I miss the torque of map 4. What year of manufacture is your box? Mines from 2009 but I know the software changes all the time with these things from what I can gather.

4-1 was great for me though I did suffer the high tick over, just under 1000 rpm. Though I'd come to the next set of lights and it'd tick over as normal, strange one.

Max setting was wow but didn't last very long till I got a flashing coil and car stuck in middle of the road at the lights. Gutted as this made the car very eager and feel alive with touch of the pedal.

So I know my car is happy at 2-2 but I'm now experimenting with 4-0 see how that takes me for awhile without any issues.

I think mine was new last year as it features the buttons & LEDs rather than the jumpers.

Indeed mine seemsto suffer inconsitent tick over on certain settings and not others but the box is off at the moment and i'd still hazard it's a bit high :)

In the end i think the difference in price between a box and a proper remap warrant any trickiness in settings or problems encountered.

as the old mantra goes: you get what you pay for

I'm with you on that mate it is at the end of the day just fooling the ecu. I'll go down the route of a proper map soon as I get back on my feet after Xmas and holiday. Too many mods on my list so one step at a time. For now the box is best bang for buck at 100 quid haha

I've settled back down for 2 +2 as car runs smooth as silk so that's me done with faffing around with it

Just to add to this thread. DTUK box is off my car for good now. My engine just doesn't like it at all. Remap only option for me now. Waste of 100 quid.

Lowest setting I ends up on and after 200 mile till got fuel sensor and boost sensor fault, coil light and car wouldn't start. Took the box off, car now great but feels like a slug haha
