Hope the 170 L&K treats you well. I'm sure you'll enjoy! Just don't forget to have the gearbox oil and filter replaced every 40k miles.

Thanks Phil. Yep dsg and haldex both serviced as agreement of sale.

That would be the older produced ones, which i suppose we are speaking about here.

As for now and the future,

You would be hoping that as Volkswagen managed to become the biggest car manufacturer in the world in the first 6 months of 2015

that they had dealt with Fundamental Design, Manufacturing and Component Quality Control,

Fluids and Software issues.

Who knows though, maybe not.

'Vorsprung Durch Technik.'

Yes they would surely be stupid not to take on board the problems with the older ones and try and improve on them!

I wonder if Skoda will ever see the new 7 speed wet clutch box used in the Audis.

Yes surely .10 gears dsg wet clutch is on the way so 7 speed reach low budget cars from vw group mean skoda

Surely it was. Then is September VW was caught out as cheats and liars and they needed to cut costs and projects they had to to send 10 Speeds to Room 101 for now.

As to 10 Speed boxes for 150ps engines and real world speeds or UK type National Speed Limits,

they might as well call it a CVT or like BMW a Steptronic.

Back to the future like my Volvo 343 back in the 80's.   Maybe not as good as a Fiat Punto Speedgear was when they worked.

I have recently purchased a used 2011 1.8tsi DSG Superb which is now on 37000 miles with me having done about 1000 of them. It runs really well and on my 60 mile round trip commute which consists of motorway, rural A roads and town driving, I get 35 to 40mpg depending on traffic conditions and how much fun I feel like having. It has the usual auto lag when I first put my foot down but I haven't found an auto that doesn't. I too worry about the dsg and it being 7 speed. I have read lots of threads about vibrations in 2nd gear meaning a £2000 bill but actually all the threads I have found thus far have been on dsg's in India! Not sure if this is because of road/driving conditions compared to European countries? I once had a DMF go on a Mondeo which cost £1700 so I am coming to the conclusion that actually every car has its expensive side in one way or another.

Is my 7 speed DSG dry or do I need to be changing oil etc on it?

How often do I have to change the oil in the gearbox?

Perhaps I am still slightly worried after all!

Has your car been one that is part of the DQ200 Service Campaign since May 2014.

The rest of the World had a World Wide Recall, but seemingly the EU/UK is not in the world.

So the Synthetic Oil is changed to Mineral if it had Synthetic from the factory, and a Software Update to the DSG.

Free.  because there is no service schedule for a DQ200

This is what they did in New Zealand, this was a proper Service Campaign, because they contacted Registered Keepers,

like a proper DVSA (VOSA)/ DVLA Recall.
